The world-famous all-night singing, dancing Full Moon Party occurs on the island of Phang Nam which is about half-hour trip by ferry.  Although ferries operate from the mainland - most visitors go to Samui first - and then onto Koh Phangan       A lot of people think it all must have started centuries ago and was a religiously inspired festival or an ancient Thai custom.    In fact it started about ten-years ago and was started by the western backpacking community.

There is no charge for attending as its very much a public event where everybody tends to do their own thing.  There are approximately 10 daily transfers each day to Koh Phangan. Boats depart between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on  the weather conditions. Boats leave from Thong Sala Pier and Haad Rin on Koh Phangan to Koh Samui Pier including Na Thon Pier, Mae Nam and the Big Buddha.
